Mary Poppins Returns: More Set Photos Leaked Of Emily Blunt And Lin-Manuel Miranda In Costume

Next year will see the return of Disney's favorite magical nanny when Mary Poppins Returns hits theaters, and photos of Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda on set have been leaked online.

The photos have Blunt and Miranda in costume as their characters, and it's worth noting that there are also a bunch of children with them riding on what looks like to be a four-person bike. No doubt these kids are playing the children of Michael Banks (Ben Whishaw) the child from the original movie who is now all-grown up in this one. Michael's sister, Jane, is also in the movie, and she'll be played by The Newsroom's Emily Mortimer.

Blunt will be taking over the role of Mary Poppins which was originated by Julie Andrews back in 1964. Miranda will be playing the role of Jack the lamplighter; no doubt an equivalent to that of Dick Van Dyke's Bert from the original movie.

Both actors have actually proven themselves in the musical genre, with Blunt playing the Baker's Wife in Into the Woods, and Miranda fresh-off of writing original songs for Disney's animated hit, Moana. Besides Moana, Miranda is probably best known for his work on the Broadway musical, Hamilton.

Here's the synopsis for the movie:

In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael's three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

Mary Poppins Returns on Dec. 25, 2018.
