We may not be getting a Star Wars movie this December, but Disney is gearing up for the release of the reboot/sequel, Mary Poppins Returns. A new trailer has just dropped for the movie and it looks like it's going to try and capture the very spirit of the original film.
Here's the official synopsis:
In Disney's "Mary Poppins Returns," an all-new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.
I'll admit, the first teaser didn't really give us everything, but this new trailer goes all out with the dazzling visuals and songs. Emily Blunt perfectly captures Julie Andrews' portrayal of the character and I think it's fantastic that they were able to cast Dick Van Dyke as Mr. Dawes Jr. (He played Dawes Sr. in the original Mary Poppins).
Besides Blunt, the movie promises an all star cast which includes the likes of Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Mary Poppins Returns in theaters Dec. 19.
