I love how the movie is keeping the aesthetic of the original. Sure the special effects and camera work have been updated, but the costumes are still as colorful as the first movie, and there's even a fantastic-looking 2D animated sequence—just like the first film!

Based on what we've seen, Mary Poppins Returns looks to be a musical to watch out for by the end of the year. The film promises some new original songs, and we should expect some great performances from actors like Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Meryl Streep. Not to mention Dick Van Dyke will also be back to play another old bank owner.

It's also worth mentioning that the movie looks absolutely magical. The original had pushed the boundaries of special effects when it came out, and with the new cinematic techniques that have been developed over the past decades, I'm sure that Disney wants to bring Mary Poppins back to the big screen with a bang.

Here's the official synopsis for the film:

In Disney's "Mary Poppins Returns," an all-new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.

Mary Poppins Returns to cinemas Dec. 19.
