Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Clarified as a Standalone Game After Confusing Comments

Even with no E3 this year, it looks like the video game industry will continue its tradition of giving us a cool trailer and then telling us the proper details later on. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales badly needed this since most of us assumed it was a full-fledged sequel but then a Sony exec said that it was sort of an expansion, which made many wonder if it was DLC.

In times like this, we should be thankful for Jason Schreier and his ability to get the proper information from these developers. His article on Bloomberg has cleared things up for the best, stating that Miles Morales is going to be a standalone game that's a bit smaller in scale and length when compared to Marvel's Spider-Man.

Basically, it's like how Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was its own standalone game but wasn't as long as Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, nor did it have as much content. That's why it was priced lower at release, with many assuming that Insomniac Games and Sony will do the same for Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Then again, they could always sell Miles Morales with a souped-up version of Marvel's Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition for the PS5. Granted, the console will be able to play PS4 games so this can be seen as a dumb addition but we're sure they'll entice us with a few new features and costumes.

Now, to sum it all up, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a standalone spin-off to Marvel's Spider-Man and will be a bit smaller, maybe even cheaper. The game will be coming out later this year. Fans will not need a copy of Marvel's Spider-Man to play Miles Morales. It's also not a full sequel so don't expect much follow-up on the Venom/Green Goblin threads introduced.
