Marvel’s Spider-Man Gets An Honest Trailer

Marvel's Spider-Man might have launched to great reviews by gamers and critics when it was launched earlier this month, but that doesn't mean Insomniac Games popular Spider-Man action-adventure game is going to get a pass from the Smosh Games YouTube channel and its Spider-Man PS4 Honest Game Trailer.

The Honest Game Trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man was just posted on YouTube yesterday, and unlike the many of the other Honest Game Trailers that mercilessly tear through video games and movies with all sorts of jokes, this one actually has a lot of praise for the Sony and PS4 published video Spider-Man game.

"From the company that's slowly replacing our entire culture with reboots and spin-offs comes a game that truly does justice to the Spider-Man franchise...and finally lets you fully live out your fantasy of being a penniless nerd whose best friend is an old woman," the trailer starts off.

Of course, the Honest Trailer wouldn't be an Honest Trailer without its many different jabs, so in the video we get to see Smosh Games making fun of the "incredible bored sounding Tobey McGuire," and the game's chippier and more relatable Spider-Man "who can't get his personal life together despite the fact that he's also the world's most confident super-sleuth, athlete, and brilliant scientist and is not just cozying with city cops but actively working to expand the surveillance state" in the Spider-Man game.

That's not all. The trailer also has comments for Marvel's Spider-Man's movement system and how it compares to the physics of reality, as well as the combat system of the game that adds to Spider-Man's abilities.

It's a pretty well-rounded trailer and one that doesn't unnecessarily throw tomatoes at the game for the sake of satire. Instead, the trailer acknowledges when Spider-Man can be great, praising various aspects of the game.

How about you? Have you played Marvel's Spider-Man? What do you think of the game?
