Marvel’s Rosario Dawson Wants To Join Patrick Stewart’s New Star Trek Series

Patrick Stewart is set to return to the Star Trek franchise to reprise the role of Jean-Luc Picard in his very own Star Trek series on CBS All Access, and it looks like Marvel Netflix star Rosario Dawson wants to join in on the series.

Speaking with fans at the Tribeca TV Festival (via Inverse), the Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage star revealed just how much she loves Star Trek, gushing over Stewart's return to the franchise. According to the actress, she grew up watching Star Trek and her favorite series was none other than The Next Generation.

"I grew up loving Star Trek and I'm still waiting for my holodeck," Dawson admitted. "My favorite is Next Generation because of Jean-Luc Picard. If they need a Klingon for the new series, well, have you seen my fivehead?"

Running for seven seasons with 178 episodes, The Next Generation was an extremely popular Star Trek series, premiering with more than 27 million viewers sitting down to watch its two-hour-long pilot, Encounter at Farpoint.

Though some Trekkies have been hoping to see other TNG faces in Stewart's new Star Trek series, it seems like the show's going to take on a new timeline, opening the door for fresh faces likes Dawson's to appear in the series. The show is set to take place two decades after Picard and his crew were all together for the events of the 2002 movie Star Trek: Nemesis, and according to Stewart, fans might not even be able to recognize the same Jean-Luc that they loved in TNG.

It certainly seems like that time's brought on a lot of change for Picard, but we're still pretty excited to see what CBS has in store for him.

Stewart's new Star Trek series is expected to premiere sometime next year.
