Marvel's Kevin Feige had to Babysit Bryan Singer on X-Men Set

The first X-Men film may have been a huge hit but it wasn't without its flaws. Interestingly, new horror stories from the production of the film are being revealed, including a recent revelation about Hugh Jackman's injury on the set that was caused by director Bryan Singer. However, that doesn't mean that 20th Century Fox never tried to control the filmmaker. A new report reveals that the studio actually sent someone to babysit Singer and it turned out to be none other than current Marvel head Kevin Feige.

The revelation comes from X-Men producer Lauren Schuler Donner, who stated that Feige was then an executive working under Fox. Although Feige was supposed to provide more comic-accurate details to the movie, Donner somehow revealed that he was also brought in to keep an eye on Singer.

"It's a weird business, the film business," Donner told The Hollywood Reporter. "We honor creativity and talent and we forgive the brilliant ones. Unconsciously, we probably do enable them by turning a blind eye to whatever they're doing and taking their product and putting it out to the world."

Donner went on to explain that Singer "was very nervous" and "would act out when he was insecure."

"But his way of acting out would be to yell and scream at everybody on the set. Or walk off the set or shut down production," she added. "You have to understand, the guy was brilliant, and that was why we all tolerated him and cajoled him. And if he wasn't so f--ked up, he would be a really great director."

It's unfortunate to know that Singer was difficult to work with and Feige may have had a hard time reigning the filmmaker in. Nevertheless, it led to major success for him as he went on to become the head of Marvel Studios.
