Marvel’s Fantastic Four reboot is highly expected to feature its classic main villain, Doctor Doom. However, given that initial reports stated that Doctor Doom will NOT be the main villain and is actually expected to make an appearance mid- and/or post-credits scenes to tease the sequel, a new report has hinted on who the MCU’s first family are bound to face off with.
“I’m told that Matt Shakman is planning to go very cosmic with his Fantastic Four movie.” Insider Jeff Sneider revealed on The Hot Mic podcast, “Lots of 1960s elements, and that the film will feature both Galactus and the Silver Surfer.”
“Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer’s draft of Fantastic Four was fine, but they brought in that new writer to get it to the level that Kevin Feige and Matt Shakman wanted.” Sneider added, “Marvel is still open to working with Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer again.”
Well, there you have it, folks. While it is important to take this report with a grain of salt for now as Marvel Studios has yet to confirm nor deny this, it is worth mentioning that prioritizing Galactus and Silver Surfer would be a great opportunity for MCU’s Fantastic Four movie to get its well-deserved reboot.

Considering the underwhelming Galactus and Silver Surfer introduction in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Marvel could take this chance to rebuild the two most iconic adversaries that could also perfectly set up Doctor Doom in its sequel.
Given the current Disney shake-up with Marvel Studios and Entertainment’s top executives' layoffs, it remains to be seen whether we’ll finally be gathering new updates on Fantastic Four, especially since Marvel Phase 5 is decreasing their release and production of initially promised series and films appearing this year and onto the next.
It’s also possible for the Fantastic Four reboot to be moved to a later date if things continue going downhill from here.
For now, Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four reboot is currently scheduled for a February 14, 2025 theatrical release.
