The much-awaited answers are here for the biggest questions in the MCU in the upcoming Marvel's What If..? where things will get more complicated as various characters exchange roles in alternate realities. The episode count for Season 1 has been revealed and it has been reduced, giving its last run to Season 2, easily confirming that there would be another set of amazing stories.

The executive producer of Marvel's What If..?, Brad Winderbaum, shared to Collider, how the pandemic affected the production of the show and he revealed that the series would have nine episodes instead of their original count of ten. He also said, "Season 2 will also be [nine episodes]."

Winderbaum explained, "We had to push an episode into Season 2. It was just, honestly, like everything else, that was a COVID impact. There was an episode that just wouldn't hit the completion date, but luckily we do get to see it in the second season of the show."

He divulged that they want to share as many stories as they can and they have enough budget for ten episodes, so cutting the season with one run would give them more space to wriggle in. The length of each episode was also revealed by Winderbaum, "We targeted a half an hour for each episode. Some of them come in a little longer, some of them come in a little shorter."

In comparison to the previous shows of Marvel like WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier which were both affected by the pandemic as well, while their episode count was not cut off, some scenes got deleted or altered to be able to deliver, unlike that of What If..? which had to lessen one from their original plan.

The series has been created by showrunner A.C. Bradley and the cast as been revealed at the 2019 Comic-Con International with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Josh Brolin as Thanos, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and more. It is also considered as the last performance of the late Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa.

Winderbaum also confirmed that the arc of Captain Carter with Peggy being injected with the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers would be carried over into Season 2 and the rest of the seasons the show would have.

What If..? originated as a comic series in 1997 until 2018 which has answers to questions like "What if the Fantastic Four had Spider-Man" or "What if someone else became a super soldier? In every episode of this animated series, a non-canon alternate universe will be told by Uatu the Watcher and it would have all the twists and turns that you are looking for in a show!

Marvel's What If..? will premiere on August 11, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.
