What If..? To Set Up T'Challa's Meeting with Howard the Duck

The next series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+ would definitely be a gamechanger as it would feature various alternate realities. What..If?, happening after the canon series of Loki which just opened the multiverse, could offer endless possibilities and one of which would be where T'Challa becomes Star-Lord and he will be meeting with long-teased character, Howard the Duck.

Seth Green, the voice behind What If…?'s Howard the Duck, shared to The Hollywood Reporter about reprising his role in the much-anticipated animated show, "which is really cool because it resulted in a scene between T'Challa and Howard." It should be noted that the upcoming series is the final project of Chadwick Boseman before he passed away.

Green also had some insights about his character, "I like the character in the comics, and I like subversive stuff. He's a punk rock noir detective, at least that's the way I play it." He also talked about the future of Howard the Duck in the MCU, "I think we can all rest assured that Marvel has good plans for all their characters that are going to make sense."

In Marvel's What If..?, instead of kidnapping Peter Quill, Yondu took T'Challa and he later assumed the title Star-Lord where he became a member of the Ravagers. Since the last time Howard the Duck was seen was in Knowhere among the collection of Taneleer Tivan, the Collector, it is possible that their meeting would be a result of Yondu's travels in space.

Various storylines will also be presented in What If..? and while some others were not yet confirmed, what is sure is that it was Peggy Carter who got the super-soldier serum and not Steve Rogers who will don the Iron Man suit, Doctor Strange was pulled to the dark side with Dormammu, Loki winning the battle of New York, and Marvel zombies among others.

What If..? will premiere on August 11, 2021 exclusively on Disney+.
