committedThe Marvel Cinematic Universe has been an unstoppable force in cinema for well over a decade now and with Marvel Studios finally venturing into streaming through Disney+, we are now getting a hefty amount of MCU projects in one calendar year, a far cry from the previous years which only gave us a maximum of three Marvel projects. Now, as the billion-dollar franchise continues to expand, it's only natural for Kevin Feige and his team to look for the industry's biggest and brightest, from actors all the way to directors.

Speaking of, a new report suggests that the studio is set to recruit a controversial director to helm one of their projects. According to the latest scoop from Giant Freakin Robot, Rian Johnson is currently being eyed by Marvel Studios for an upcoming film. Details about the rumored project weren't disclosed but it was said that Kevin Feige wants The Last Jedi director on board "sooner than later".

As it stands, nothing has been officially confirmed yet so like any other rumor, take this one with a massive grain of salt.

It's no secret that Johnson has divided a lot of Star Wars fans over the last five years thanks to Episode VIII and that alone should concern Kevin Feige and his crew if the rumors are in fact true. Of course, Marvel Studios is known for its conscious effort to please its fandom but if Rian repeats the "mistakes" most fans think he commited in The Last Jedi, then the studio is going to face a huge problem. Rian's a fantastic director, no doubt about it but if does land that MCU job, he may have to dial things down a bit.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is streaming on Disney+.
