Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was pivotal for Wanda Maximoff as it marked her ascension as the Harbinger of Chaos. Wanda's journey to becoming the Scarlet Witch was realized with the help of the Darkhold aka the "Book of the Damned". Longtime readers of the comics are well aware of its origin and it's almost safe to assume that the MCU will remain faithful to how it was created.

Well, it turns out that's not the case and according to a new rumor, the studio is set to make some drastic changes to the popular artifact you will either love or despise. According to The Cosmic Circus' scoop, Kang the Conqueror will have an unexpected connection to the Darkhold as one of his variants will apparently be responsible for its creation.

In the comics, the Darkhold is the work of the evil Elder God Chthon, a character who has long been rumored to make his live-action debut in the MCU. As it stands, it remains unclear when the studio plans to reveal the Book of the Damned's original author but rumors have been persistent that the upcoming Agatha: Coven of Chaos will explore the mythical book.

Of course, it's no longer surprising how the MCU would make such changes as it's been notorious for tweaking stories since its inception. I gotta say though, while Kang being responsible for writing the Darkhold may seem odd to some, it makes logical sense, especially considering he's someone who has the ability to traverse the multiverse.

Meanwhile, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is available to stream on Disney+.
