Marvel Studios Producer Claims Recasting Jonathan Majors Is Not A Big Deal

Over this weekend, Jonathan Majors' name has been quite a buzz for getting arrested after being accused of allegedly strangling, assaulting, and harassing his 30-year-old girlfriend altogether. In fact, even previous directors Majors has worked with have revealed the truth behind the 33-year-old actor's true 'sociopathic' behavior on behalf of their disappointment that news had only started spreading too late — right after Majors' debut as Kang the Conqueror on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

When it comes to building the MCU, actors rarely ever get recast from their roles, especially when they're already widely known. However, given the circumstance of Jonathan Majors being the MCU's new big bad, his role is too big to ignore. Now, while Marvel Studios has yet to fully address the ongoing investigation on how and who they plan on replacing the Kang actor with, a previous D23: Inside Disney podcast where Marvel Studios' VP of Production & Development Stephen Broussard spoke pretty much implies what we can expect in the next few days.

Broussard noted that while Thanos was the initial big bad the Marvel Phases have been building up to, he hasn't exactly had big appearances in the MCU films: “Now, when Kevin announced Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, it feels like you gotta have Kang in everything. So obviously, he probably won’t be, but how do you balance setting up a Kang finale of sorts and not have him in every single project leading into it?”

Creative-wise, Broussard has a point. The idea of always having Kang appear in films wouldn't make sense. As for the possibility of Majors getting replaced, Broussard ultimately emphasized that the Kang actor could easily get replaced, considering that we are now in the Multiverse Saga era, after all. It is worth mentioning that Broussard addressed this possibility of getting recast prior to Jonathan Majors getting exposed for his abusive behavior.

“I don’t think he’s going to appear in every film, as you say. Obviously, he probably won’t.” Broussard concluded, “I’ll also point back to what Kevin [Feige] said at Comic-Con, he branded the first cycle of movies was the Infinity Saga. We are in the Multiverse Saga. And that entails all sorts of things, right?”
