Marvel Stars Fall From 2020’s Top 10 Highest Paid Actors Ranking

It looks like actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe haven't been doing so well this year.

Forbes just recently released its annual Top Ten Highest Earning Actors list this week, and it seems like none of Marvel's mainstays made it into the list – well, one if Ryan Reynolds now counts as a member of the MCU considering the fact that Disney's acquired the Deadpool film franchise through its merger with 20th Century Fox.

In the list we get Dwayne "The Rock Johnson" who's been on top for the second year in a row with a $87.5 million gross thanks to his $23.5 million check from Netflix. Reynolds comes at second place with $71.5 million in earnings – the actor earned more than $20 million each for Six Underground and Red Notice. Mark Wahlberg is third with a $58 million gross, Ben Affleck comes at fourth with a $55 million haul, Vin Diesel comes at fifth with $54 million, Akshay Kumar, the one Bollywood star on the list comes at sixth with $48.5 million, seventh is Lin-Manuel Miranda, Will Smith comes at eighth place, Adam Sandler at nine, and Jackie Chan at 10.

Nowhere do we see the names of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, or Scarlett Johansson. This might come as a surprise to fans since RDJ and Hemsworth comfortably made it into last year's Top 10. It seems like their drop from the list is because of Marvel's slow roll-out this year – Black Widow has yet to release. Phase 4 of the MCU has yet to begin.

Besides, RDJ and Evans have seemingly retired from the MCU, now that their characters have completed their narrative arcs in the franchise. We wonder what's next for the two.

Black Widow is set to premiere on November 6, 2020.
