Marvel Reportedly Pulling The Plug On All Current Animated TV Series

It might sound a bit heart breaking, but word on the rumor mill says that Marvel plans on pulling the plug on all of its current animated TV series.

Inspired by the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Animation decided to release a handful of shows on Disney XD. This included the 2013 Avengers Assemble which served as the success of the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon, and then a new Guardians of the Galaxy series and a Spider-Man relaunch.

Now according to a report by The Tomb Of The Cartoon Monkey Skeleton blog, all three cartoons are set to go on hiatus. Not only are the series' crew people being fired, but it seems like Marvel Animation has also tasked the crew people to finish outstanding work over the next few months.

Though fans ought to take the rumors with a grain of salt, the blog has had quite a number of strong industry connections and the blogger behind the site has worked in the animated industry for more than forty years before retiring.

If the report does prove to be true, then it'd be such a shame to see the Marvel series go. Sure they weren't spectacular offerings, but they did provide interesting episodes for kids.

Spide-Man makes its big Disney XD comeback on January 21. Guardians of the Galaxy season 2 on the other hand is expected to return to the network on February 27.
