Marvel Reportedly Green Lights Production Of Captain Marvel 2

Marvel might have been a little bit quiet about its Captain Marvel sequel when it announced its plans for Phase 4 and Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but back in January, reports came out that WandaVision staff writer Megan McDonnel would be writing a script for Captain Marvel 2.

Soon after, Disney announced the Captain Marvel sequel, saying that it was planning to develop a second standalone movie featuring Brie Larson's ace pilot and photon-blasting superhero, Carol Danvers.

Now, it looks like the movie is officially moving forward over at Marvel Studios.

Geek WorldWide's Thomas Polito just recently took to Twitter, revealing that Marvel just recently filed an LLC for a project called "Warbird Productions II." Marvel often files an LLC when it prepares for new productions, and while "Warbird Productions II" doesn't necessarily mean Captain Marvel 2, the first Captain Marvel movie went in production under the name "Warbird Productions."

Given the name, it seems like Marvel just filed an LLC for Captain Marvel 2.

"It should come as no surprise, but Marvel filed the LLC "Warbird Productions II" on February 13th, which means Captain Marvel 2 is officially greenlit," Polito wrote in his tweet.

There isn't that much known about the premise for Captain Marvel 2, but word has it that the movie is going to take place in the present day of the MCU. There still isn't any director attached to the project, however, Marvel is reportedly hoping to find a female director for the Captain Marvel sequel.

Captain Marvel 2 has yet to receive a release date, but we'll update fans as soon as we get word.
