Marvel Movies Not in Danger Because of Writer’s Strike

A lot of the movies and TV shows are riding on the backs of writers who come up with great storylines and narration for the respective universes and franchises.

Just like what happened back in 2007, when there was a walkout of writers that pretty much changed the industry as we know it, there's a high chance that another strike will happen to welcome in May this year.

This has been gaining a lot of traction, especially since this doesn't seem to be affecting TV alone, but other mediums as well. However, Marvel Studios doesn't seem too concerned. If anything, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige thinks that it won't affect the timelines that they had set for their movies.

Feige told The Wrap that the studio has already been gearing up for the possibility, which is why they were able to somehow appease it.

"I think the whole industry will be affected, but we've seen it coming for a while now, and yes, it moved up deadlines."

What this means is that none of its 2017 movies will bite the dust because of the strike. All of the slated movies coming this 2017 have already been shot, including even Black Panther, which is not set for theaters until Feb. 16. Feige reassures that there are more titles that are in the clear.

"Most of the movies that we've talked about publicly will be okay. For a few of them, depending on how long it lasts, there will be repercussions. But certainly, the ones filming or the ones about to start filming have scripts and are set."

This includes their 2017 movies, which have already been set beforehand. Feige does recognize that the danger lies in the future movies, particularly because MCU has a lot more in store for fans.

For now, MCU has to take care of 2019 in as far as its Marvel Grand Plan is concerned. That's because not all of these have been set in stone, and at the same time, there's still quite a selection of heroes to expand the Avengers.

This year, we're still looking at releases for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on May 5, Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7, and Thor: Ragnarok on Nov. 3.
