Marvel Comics recently made a drastic change to Star-Lord's character and as it stands, the legendary outlaw identifies himself as a bisexual in the current comics canon. In Guardians of the Galaxy #9 written by Al Ewing, it was revealed that the GOTG leader is embracing his new sexual identity. One panel from the said issue features a scene where Peter Quill is sharing an intimate moment with humanoid alien couple Aradia and Mors.

It sure left the entire comic book world talking but you'll be shocked to learn that Marvel has actually been toying with the idea of turning the character bisexual for years now. Kris Anka, the artist behind the Star-Lord comic series written with Chip Zdarsky back in 2016, revealed on Twitter that plans always called for Quill to have a sexual awakening of sorts. In fact, they were working on a character that they intended to be Peter Quill's new love interest but the series didn't last long.

Sharing his concept sketch of the unnamed character, who somewhat resembles the MCU version of the character with purple skin, Anka wrote: "So back when @zdarsky and I were doing Star-Lord, if the series had gone long enough we actually developed and designed a character we were gonna try to make a love interest for Peter." Since Star-Lord's sexuality is now being acknowledged in the current comics canon, it'll be interesting to see if Marvel Studios would pull the trigger on turning Chris Pratt's character bisexual in the franchise down the line. I'm guessing they won't especially taking into consideration how fans have been attacking Pratt for allegedly being against the LGBTQ community.

Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is expected to hit cinemas in 2022.
