Marvel Fans Want A Black Director For Blade Reboot

Marvel fans have been rallying for Marvel to reboot the Blade franchise for years, and this weekend Marvel Studios surprised everyone by announcing that Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali would take on Wesley Snipes' role as the iconic Marvel Vampire hunter in a new Blade movie.

Now, fans are busy trying to think up of a director for the film, and it seems like most want to see a black filmmaker take the reigns over the upcoming Blade reboot. There doesn't seem to be a fixed name or bet, but one thing's for sure – fans want the director to be black.

Fans are talking about the Blade reboot on Twitter, and many are concerned not only about representation in front of the camera but behind the camera as well.

Perhaps the sentiment comes off of the success of Black Panther. Not only did the film present a cast featuring many black actors and actresses, but it also featured a black director, Ryan Coogler.

Of course, there are others who feel differently, saying that it doesn't really matter what race you are as long as you have talent and you are qualified for the job.

While it definitely would be interesting to see directors like Jordan Peele and Ryan Coogler taking on the Blade reboot, we believe that Marvel should choose a filmmaker who would do the best job, regardless of his ethnicity. But then again, it isn't our call. It's really up to Marvel whether or not it wants to let Blade follow the same pattern as Black Panther.

The Blade movie doesn't have a release date yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
