Marvel Fans Have Strong Reactions to Taika Waititi Saying He’s Quitting Film

It looks like Marvel fans aren't too happy with Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi announcing that he's quitting film.

Taking to Twitter, the beloved indie darling decided to announce his plans to quit making movies so that he could pursue his dream to bring joy to the world by sewing. It's a pretty cute tweet that showcases the filmmaker's skill as a tailor.

"I'm quitting film. It's the right thing to do when you can bring so much joy to the world with your sewing. Btw it's a rabbit and a snake and the frayed bits are on purpose. It's 'rustic'. And that's a tongue coming out of the snake's mouth not a tampon you smart arses," the director wrote on his post yesterday.

Check it out down here:

While the tweet is obviously a joke from Waititi (that or a humblebrag showing how he knows how to sew), there are fans who are taking the post rather seriously. Replying to the post, fans are scolding the filmmaker, saying that he should never joke that he's quitting film. It seems like the director's fanbase isn't too keen on Waititi leaving the filmmaking industry.

Right now, Waititi is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this time to direct the franchise's fourth Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. Not only is Chris Hemsworth set to reprise his role as the MCU's Asgardian God of Thunder, but Natalie Portman is also set to appear in the film, this time as Jane Foster's Mighty Thor.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for release on November 5, 2021.
