Marvel Fans Are Upset By Carol Danver’s Make Up In Avengers: Endgame

Hype over Avengers: Endgame might be at an all-time high after Marvel decided to release the film's first full trailer, but it seems like some fans aren't that excited about the new footage. Captain Marvel's (Brie Larson) first appearance in Endgame's marketing material might have thrilled some fans, but others don't seem to be pleased by Carol Danvers' new look.

Carol appears at the very end of the trailer of Endgame together with Thor (Chris Hemsworth). In the scene, the Asgardian God of Thunder is trying to intimidate Captain Marvel by summoning his ax, Stormbreaker, right next to her shoulder, but the hero remains unfazed.

While some couldn't help squeal over a potential pairing between the two, others focused on Captain Marvel's glam look, criticizing Carol's face full of makeup. The character used very minimal makeup in Captain Marvel, preferring a more natural look for the Avenger. However, it seems like the style has shifted in Avengers: Endgame. Carol can be clearly seen with lipstick and eyeliner when she responds to Thor's little intimidation tactics with an unimpressed look on her face.

Despite the concerns over the make-up, other fans have been pointing out that Captain Marvel's new look shouldn't be a problem because make-up doesn't necessarily make any woman or man weak. Heroines like Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) both work makeup to varying degrees and yet fans had no issues with that. Their status as strong, independent women wasn't questioned by their looks. So why Captain Marvel?
