Following the news that a reporter asked Brie Larson an irrelevant question about Johnny Depp yesterday, MCU fans rallied behind the actress and pointed out why she was being treated this way.
Larson has a stellar filmography, and it was proven when she received her Oscar for her endearing performance in Room, but when the actress starred in Marvel’s Captain Marvel, a hate campaign was plotted against her.
Fans on Twitter are laying the argument that Larson is always put on bait by the media by asking her unreasonable questions, which are subject to negative reactions.
They are also pointing out that it has something to do with Captain Marvel being perceived as a bad MCU movie and employing more misogynistic haters to target the actress.
Given the unwarranted hate she is receiving after playing a superhero, most fans are wondering why she is being treated differently from other MCU actors and seems to not have solid support from Marvel.

“She endured a lot of misogynistic hate for Capt. Marvel. Many other Marvel actors didn’t rally around her as they did for Pratt.” wrote user @WendyTsRevenge
Meanwhile, @oatmilkprncess reasoned, “Brie Larson has been the face of one of the most widespread and vicious misogynistic hate campaigns since she first appeared in Marvel and this question is designed to set her up for harassment. None of you have any damn sympathy for this woman and it shows.”
In March, Larson revealed that upon taking the superhero role, she was afraid of how her career would turn out from then on, and given the situation right now, she has every reason to show fear at the time.
“I was scared of what would happen to me, I was like, 'What world is this, where are these the choices I have to make as an artist?'” said Larson.
Larson first appeared as Carol Danvers in 2019, and she is set to reprise her role in the upcoming The Marvels.
