Marvel Comics May Not Be Teasing Spider-Man 4 After All

The interest of Marvel fans was suddenly piqued yesterday when Marvel Comics teased dropped a teaser of what looked to be Spider-Man's webbing in the form of a number "4". Everyone thought that this would be some kind of comic adaptation following the original plans for Sam Raimi's Spider-Man4, but it looks like that isn't the case.

Marvel Comics has just put up another update, and as it turns out—it's the start of a countdown. This is what they just posted:

It also kind of doesn't help that comic legend Alex Ross posted up some Spider-Man art with the hashtag #SpiderMan4 following Marvel Comics' post. I guess he was asked to take it down, because the Tweet has been deleted, and it kind of got fans excited for something that wasn't what they thought it would be.

If anything, Marvel has now gotten the attention of Spider-fans, whether this be a continuation of the Raimi-verse or not. Hopefully, whatever they have planned is worth it because everyone was suddenly excited to come back to that classic world of Spider-Man only to have their hopes thrown out the window.

For now, I guess the next big thing we can hope for is the release of Spider-Man: Far from Home which promises to close MCU Phase 3. Hopefully, it will give us a tease of the Sinister Six finally, and introduce us to Spider-Man's number one nemesis—Norman Osborn a.k.a. The Green Goblin.

Catch Spider-Man: Far from Home in theaters July 2.
