Marvel Comics #1000 Cover Features Gay Kiss From a DC Comic

Marvel Comics #1000 has to be one of the most anticipated comics coming out in August, thanks to the fact that it will have 80 one-page stories. However, one of the variant covers for the comic has garnered a lot of controversy for all the wrong reasons since it features a gay kiss from a DC comic. No joke, it comes from the Earth 2 comic that was a part of the New 52.

Twitter user Symbiobro spotted the mistake and it has garnered steam. Nicola Scott, the artist who drew the Earth 2 scene, noticed this and joked about getting a paycheck from Marvel. It's definitely a sore spot for the company and makes the comparisons between this and DC's comics that actually reached #1000 more noticeable.

Artist Mr. Garcin, who worked on the variant cover, notified Symbiobro and apologized for getting the wrong image. He was looking for the first Marvel gay kiss between Wiccan and Hulkling from Avengers: The Children's Crusade, which was a sequel to Young Avengers from writer Allan Heinberg and artist Jim Cheung. It's an excellent comic for those that haven't seen it.

Marvel also confirmed to Newsarama that this variant to the giant-sized one-shot will be changed, likely replacing the DC image with a Marvel one. Here's hoping that we don't get any more mistakes like this.
