After being delayed for a whole year, Fox's The New Mutants will finally hit theaters later this year and fans are going crazy for its second trailer. It's one of the freshest takes on an X-Men property and with the news that this movie is Josh Boone's original vision and won't be hampered by too much studio interference, it looks like this will be a film that a lot of people are going to like.
Continuing to hype up the film, Marvel (via CBR) has decided to release two new stills of our mutant group. Since this is a more horror-oriented film, don't expect to see these characters in their classic comic book costumes, except for Magik, whose armor was hinted at in the new trailer. We don't see it in action here but that should be one hell of a reveal when it comes out.
There's no doubt that this could be one of the more unique superhero movies coming out this year and there's a small part of me that wishes these characters would be integrated into the MCU, though we all know that won't happen. We don't even know how ingrained this will be in the Fox/X-Men canon, which already has one of the hardest continuities to follow.
No longer plagued by delays, The New Mutants will finally come to theaters on April 3. Praise the Lord.
