MARS RED Episode 3 Release Date and Time, Where to Watch English Subs Online, COUNTDOWN

MARS RED Episode 2 has just aired, and things already look exciting. You can't really go wrong with a believable 20s setting, vampires, and a tiny bit of theatricality.

The premiere of the 12-episode anime felt a bit like a one-shot story, introducing the setting and characters, rather than doing a great deal to advance the plot, but now that the plot is picking up, many viewers will look forward to new episodes of the historical horror anime.

MARS RED is based on a stage reading play and its manga adaptation. The year is 1923. Following the changes brought about by WWI, Japan is moving towards a new era of technology and industrialization. But there's a twist, as this is more than the Japan we know; it's a country with a vampire problem.

The main character Yoshinobu Maeda is called back on active duty to tackle the problem. After an establishing episode in which he tried, and failed, to recruit a recently contaminated actress to the vampire tracking cause, the plot is really starting to pick up.

We're introduced to "Code Zero" the operation that deals with the vampire problems and is partly manned by vampires who help hunt their own.

The episode starts with rumors about cases of spontaneous human combustion. Aoi, the reporter from Episode 1, is studying the phenomenon and is interested in revealing the truth. As always, Maeda acts cold towards her, but through their interaction, she concludes that he has lost someone he loved.

This time, the enemy Code Zero has to face is a married couple; both vampires who must be eliminated. Keeping up with the theatrical element, the couple identifies with lovers from plays, and this is how they die: dramatically.

Episode 2 of MARS RED reminds us that no character is safe. One of Maeda's subordinates is contaminated by the vampire wife. Faced with the choice to kill him, or let him keep serving as a vampire, Maeda chooses to kill him, to prevent him from becoming a monster.
