Mark Millar Talks About His First Netflix Comicbook Series

Mark Millar has just announced his first project after selling Millarworld to Netflix.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Scottish Comicbook writer has decided to announce his new Netflix comic book series, The Magic Order. Teaming together with Olivier Coipel from House of M and Thor, Millar's new series tells the story of five different families of magicians who've been protecting the world from unseen threats by themselves for generations.

Keeping their heroics a secret, the families act like normal citizens in society. However, things begin to change when a new enemy starts assassinating the magicians one at a time.

"It's all about accessibility, and the big idea here is that these are the guys who keep the world as rational and normal as it feels to us now. These guys are out there cracking heads in the shadows so we can all sleep safely in our beds at night. That's the deal and the ancient promise they made to mankind: five families across the world who take care of things whenever they're needed. It's R-rated adult fantasy. Something for the kids who grew up 10 or 20 years ago loving all-ages fantasy in cinema, but now wanting something a little tastier."

Described as "more like The Sopranos than Lord of the Rings," comicbook readers can expect a lot of great modern fantasy when they read The Magic Order. It's going to be exciting to see what Millar has in store for us.

Set to run for six issues, The Magic Order is scheduled to launch next spring.
