Mark Hamill Thinks Of Carrie Fisher In The Present Tense To Cope With Her Passing

It was hard really hard for the Star Wars community when word broke out that Carrie Fisher had passed away in December last year. The Star Wars legend had meant so much to many people, and it came as a horrible surprise to her fans, family, and friends that Fisher had become one of the victims of the year's killing spree (2016 had been taking away so many of the world's biggest icons).

It's been almost a year since Carrie's passing and fans are anxious to see the actress again in her final Star Wars movie on the big screen.

Speaking in an interview with Men's Journal (via Comicbook), one of the people closest to Carrie, her Star Wars brother Mark Hamill, has decided to share the steps he's been taking to cope with the loss of his friend.

"The only way I've been able to cope is to think of her in the present tense. She's so vital in my mind even today. We had our ups and downs. She was almost like a real sibling because I loved her deeply, but she could be so exasperating. When she went into cardiac arrest, it never occurred to me that she wouldn't bounce back. I just thought, 'Well, she's got her next book written.' She'll call it A Piece of My Heart or something acerbic and witty."

Carrie was a witty delight, and many looked up to her, not just because of her work as a Star Wars princess, but because of the things she's done as a mental health advocate and as a writer. She was an amazing woman who had inspired many, and we're pretty sure that everyone's going to well-up when they see her on the big screen for the last time in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits the big screen December 15, 2017.
