Mark Hamill Reveals His Favorite Piece of Joker Monologue

Mark Hamill may be best known for playing Jedi master Luke Skywalker but his second most iconic role is that of the Joker from Batman The Animated Series. Hamill is usually friendly with fans on Twitter, and when one fan asked which of his favorite Joker monologues was, Hamill revealed:

This is Hamill performing it live:

And just for the heck of it, here it is from the episode The Man Who Killed Batman:

Just in case you're curious, the episode actually centers on a small-time crook and how he had accidentally killed the Batman, leading all of the other villains to want to kill him.

As Hamill suggests, it is kind of an impressive speech, and it gives us a look into Joker's psyche when it comes to his rivalry with Batman. Though some think that the Joker's romance is with Harley Quinn in the series, any true fan knows that it's really with Batman. Though we do see the Batman react to Joker's death in the Arkham series, it's actually interesting to see the reversal with the villain finally ‘getting what he wants'.

For now, we don't know when Hamill will be back to officially voice the Joker. He did say he was done with the character with Arkham Knight, but he then came back to voice him for the animated adaptation of The Killing Joke. With Star Wars back on the rise, I'm actually happy to see Hamill back onscreen. Maybe he'll land some more jobs after Episode IX, but I have a feeling he's going to want to stick to voiceover work.

Catch Hamill as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episode IX when it hits theaters Dec. 20, 2019.
