Mark Hamill Promotes Campaign For Terminally Ill Man To See Rogue One Early

Star Wars fans are rallying around a man with cancer who wants to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story before he passes away.

British Illustrator Neil Harvey was given eight months to live, so it's possible that he won't get a chance to watch Gareth Edwards' upcoming Star Wars spin-off when it hits UK theaters in December. One of his famous works is this mashup of stormtrooper and King Tut:

Harvey's wife, Andrea, and healthcare assistant Amy Duncan (who works at the hospice where Harvey is in) took it to Facebook to ask for support to help him get an early screening of Rogue One from his hospital bed, using the hashtag #RogueOneWish.

Thankfully, the campaign gained a lot of support from around the world. Star Wars fan podcast network The Cantina Cast is promoting the campaign, Rio Olympics 2016 Mountain Bike Manager Paul Davis tweeted from the starting line. Mark Hamill himself is boosting the campaign with retweets.

Of course, this isn't the first time we've seen the Star Wars community actively help terminally ill fans get early screenings, but it's good to see fans come together for these campaigns.

Last year, Daniel Fleetwood had a chance to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens before he passed away, thanks to J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm.
