Daniel Fleetwood, The First 'Star Wars' Fan to See 'The Force Awakens', Died at 32

Daniel Fleetwood, the terminally ill young fan whose dying wish was to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has died at age 32, according to multiple media reports.

His wife, Ashley, confirmed the news on Facebook with a heartfelt message:

Back in July, Daniel was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma, which is a rare form of tissue cancer, and he was only given a couple of months to live. Since then, Daniel has been worried that he might not make it until the The Force Awakens' release on December, which led him and his family to begin The Force For Daniel Campaign. Using the hashtag #Forcefordaniel, the campaign reached out to fans to help spread the word about Daniel's wish. After Star Wars actors like Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, and Peter Mayhew lent their voices on the Force For Daniel campaign for the superfan to see the film.

Thanks to J.J. Abrams, Disney, and Lucasfilm, Daniel was able to watch an unfinished cut of the film before he passed away. The trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is below:
