With the film’s release just a bit over a month away, MAPPA shared a new trailer for the highly anticipated movie, Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Koujou, which revealed its theme song.
Along with the new theme, MAPPA also confirmed more members of the show’s voice cast who will join the previously announced VAs for the main characters.
Aside from its star-studded cast, this movie has a lot of hype behind it as it’s the next project by notable anime writer, Mari Okada.
Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Koujou: MAPPA’s Highly Anticipated Film
MAPPA is easily one of the most popular anime studios today. After all, the studio is behind some of the most popular shonen titles in recent years such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and Attack on Titan: The Final Season.
Aside from popular shonen, MAPPA has also worked on several anime movies and shows that are helmed by well-known creators.
For instance, there’s Terror in Resonance by Shinichiro Watanabe, as well as Yuri on Ice by Sayo Yamamoto.
The studio’s latest creator-led work is Maboroshi, an upcoming anime drama film that’s written and directed by Mari Okada.
Okada is best known for writing some of the most popular shows of the 2000s and the 2010s, including hits like Black Butler, Toradora!, Anohana, and more.
While Okada hasn’t been active in TV anime, she has written several notable anime films in recent years such as Maquia, Her Blue Sky, and A Whisker Away.

Maboroshi Anime Reveals Cast and Main Theme
Previously, it was revealed that the Maboroshi anime film will star Junya Enoki (Yuji in Jujutsu Kaisen), Reina Ueda (Kanao in Demon Slayer), and Misaki Kuno (Kurumi in Lycoris Recoil) as the main characters.
MAPPA now revealed that the main cast will be joined by the following VAs:
- Taku Yashiro (Gugu in To Your Eternity) as Daisuke Sasakura
- Tasuku Hatanaka (Denki in My Hero Academia) as Atsushi Nitta
- Daiki Kobayashi (Zoe in The Ancient Magus' Bride) as Yasunari Semba
- Ayaka Saito (Mitsukuni in Ouran High School Host Club) as Yuko Sonobe
- Maki Kawase (Junko in Zombie Land Saga) as Hina Hara
- Yukiyo Fujii (Harumi in Citrus) as Reina Yasumi
- Setsuji Satō (Satoshi in Urusei Yatsura) as Mamoru Sagami
Along with the cast, the anime’s latest trailer also previews the film’s main theme Shin-on (or Heartbeat in English) by Miyuki Nakajima.
Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Koujou will be released on September 15, 2023.
