Margot Robbie Says Birds Of Prey Has The Spirit Of A Tarantino Movie

Suicide Squad might have been a major flop, but DC fans couldn't help but fall in love with Margot Robbie's version of Harley Quinn. Now, Daddy's Little Monster has a new team-up movie scheduled for release next year. There haven't been that many trailers for Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), but based on the teaser that Warner Brothers dropped back in January, the film's going to have a very different feel from Suicide Squad.

Instead, Robbie says that her upcoming DC film takes a few notes from Quentin Tarantino's unique style of filmmaking.

Speaking in a recent interview with MTV News to help promote Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, a film where she stars as pregnant actress Sharon Tate, Robbie says that the energy that Tarantino brings to the big screen is something that serves as an inspiration for Birds of Prey.

"I mean, yes," Robbie told the entertainment news outlet. "The spirit's definitely there."

Birds of Prey definitely has a unique look to it and the production's paid homage to Tarantino ever since it first began. For those who haven't been following the news, the film's working title is Fox Force Five, a reference to a fictional project that's mentioned in one of Tarantino's movies.

"In Pulp Fiction, When Uma and John Travolta are having their $5 milkshake, she's explaining the pilot that she - which I think, in real life, Uma had done. I think that dialogue was based on the fact that she'd done a pilot like that," Robbie explains the working title of Birds of Prey, " And then he turned it into dialogue and talks about Fox Force Five. And it's like a whole scene. But in our movie, there are five prominent women. And like, we always throw a reference to like, Tarantino moments that we pray to like inject into the film. So it felt fitting. And then, I also asked Quentin, I was like 'Would you mind if we used the working title Fox Force Five?' And he thought it was really funny."

We can only wonder how many notes Birds of Prey is going to take from Tarantino's style. Are we going to get fast-paced and witty dialogue in the movie as well? That would definitely be interesting to see. One of the most notable points in Tarantino's films is the dialogue, so it would definitely be interesting to see that quality make its way to Birds of Prey.

Birds of Prey premieres February 7, 2020.
