Margot Robbie Said She Received Death Threats For Playing Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn is probably one of the most beloved comic book characters out there, and she was personified back in 2016 by Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad. As it turns out, some crazy fans have been issuing death threats at Robbie after her portrayal; and no, they were not coming from method-acting Jared Leto.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Robbie revealed:

"You're about to be in a comic book film; now here's the worst-case scenario of how big and scary it can get. There's just all this stuff you learn along the way, like, when you get those death threats, it's [smart] to have a security team do a background check on whoever sent them to see if there is any past history of violence because you'll need to know whether you need security to go to certain events."

With fandoms as huge as DC's, you can expect a couple of crazies to get mixed in with the community. If you think that's a nightmare, just look at the fandom for Star Wars. After the release of The Last Jedi, some fans actually came up with a petition to erase the film from canon, delay Episode IX, and remake Episode VIII "the right way."

Though Suicide Squad was a critical bomb, Robbie (and Will Smith's) performance were considered to be one of the movie's saving graces. We don't know exactly when Harley will come back onscreen, but hopefully we don't have to wait that long. Best guess it's in the Suicide Squad sequel.

No official release date has been announced for Suicide Squad 2 but it could come out 2019.
