The Kaiju No. 8 anime is getting a lot of attention thanks to its intriguing premise and explosive action. For those who can’t get enough and have already caught up with the manga, here are more manga like Kaiju No. 8 that fans should definitely read.
While the series takes a lot of cues from the kaiju genre, it’s fair to say that the manga is a battle shonen at its core as it shares a lot of the same themes and structure as many popular Shonen Jump titles
Given this, coupled with the fact that there aren’t a lot of kaiju manga out there, this list features an array of ongoing manga that have similar shonen premises but with different takes on the genre.
World Trigger
First up is World Trigger, the sci-fi manga by Daisuke Ashihara that was initially serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2013 to November 2018.
The manga was moved to Jump Square in December 2018 and has since continued with a monthly release schedule.
While it may not exactly be like Kaiju No. 8, World Trigger also features a future setting where the world is invaded by extraterrestrial beings called Neighbors.
Instead of featuring someone who can transform into a Neighbor, the series follows a humanoid Neighbor named Yuma Kuga who wants to hide from the defense agency Border.

My Hero Academia
Next, we have My Hero Academia, the popular Shonen Jump manga by Kohei Horikoshi that also has a hugely popular anime series.
It may be more of a straight-up battle shonen, but My Hero Academia should still be worth reading for Kaiju No. 8 fans who haven’t given the series a try yet.
That’s because both titles feature a nice mix of action and worldbuilding, all while adding some sprinkles of comedy to keep things light, at least until the story arcs need to get serious.

Speaking of humor, One-Punch Man is very much an action-comedy series. In the same way that Kaiju No. 8 adds huge monsters as a twist to the battle shonen genre, One-Punch Man adds a huge dose of comedy.
More accurately, you can say that One-Punch Man is a deconstruction of the battle shonen genre as it features an overpowered main character.
Still, the series manages to keep things fresh and fun, all while having stellar fights and artwork courtesy of illustrator Yusuke Murata.

Another Shonen Jump series that Kaiju No. 8 fans shouldn’t miss is Chainsaw Man, that is if they haven’t read it already.
These two manga couldn't be further apart given their stories and themes, though they are both set in a world ravaged by fearsome invaders.
Moreover, these two titles can be seen as great complementary pieces given that they approach the genre in opposite ways.
Chainsaw Man may start ordinarily, but it quickly morphs into a unique manga that’s quite unlike any other shonen. Meanwhile, Kaiju No. 8 starts uniquely which gives the battle shonen story a different flavor.

Dandadan
Finally, we have Dandadan, one of the most popular ongoing Shonen Jump+ titles alongside Kaiju No. 8.
Sure, it may have weird supernatural beings and aliens instead of kaiju, but both manga deliver entertaining fights with a nice twist.
What’s more, Dandadan should also be a nice change of pace for a shonen fan given that it has a bigger emphasis on romantic-comedy elements.
