The Mandalorian Season 3 Will Feature the Return of Rise of Skywalker Character

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker received divisive responses from both critics and the audience when it was released in December 2019 due to disappointment and dissatisfaction with how the film closed the Skywalker Saga. Despite that, there are new characters within the film that were received well by fans and now it looks like one of them is set to return soon.

Per ComicBook.com, during a panel at the recent Star Wars Celebrant event, it was revealed that Babu Frik will make an appearance in the third season of The Mandalorian. In the footage that they showed to the audience, it also revealed that the character's species Anzellan will also show up in the upcoming season.

Since the series is set roughly 25 years before the sequel trilogy, we will be seeing a younger version of Babu Frik and perhaps they might explain their origins and how they got involved to where they ended up being in The Rise of Skywalker. In the film, the character was voiced by Shirley Henderson. It is unknown yet if she will reprise the role in the series.

This is the first major sign that The Mandalorian is going to acknowledge the sequel trilogy in some capacity. Despite the divisive reception of the films, it looks like the franchise is still committed to doing connections to that era. It's also going to be a way for them to explore the species and how they contribute to the galaxy far, far away.

So far, as expected, the plot details are still under wraps so we don't know yet how Babu Frik will play into the plot of the third season which is expected to be set mostly in Mandalore. We still have a year away before we find out the answers.
