64 Magic: The Gathering players will compete at the first-ever Mythic Invitational at PAX East this week, from March 28–31, beginning at 10 a.m. ET Thursday to Sunday, and they will be competing in Magic Arena for a $1 million prize pool. It's going to be double-elimination so half of each group of 16 players will be facing elimination beginning Round 2. Today, The Magic: The Gathering Esports website has revealed the brackets for the Mythic Invitational, giving us a look at the tournament's early matches.
On Thursday, we'll see the players of Group A and Group B battle it out, and as you can see in the bracket below, Group A will feature Mythic Championship I winner Autumn Burchett going against Hall of Famer Owen Turtenwald. Yuuya Watanabe and Ken Yukuhiro, two members of the Japanese superteam Team Musashi, are also in this bracket. Pro Tour Champions Wyatt Darby and Gerry Thompson will be facing each other on Round 1 so that should be an intense match to watch.
For Bracket B, we'll see Hall of Famers Ben Stark and Lee Shi Tian, as well as last year's Player of the Year Luis Salvatto, compete to reach the Top 16 that will be held on Saturday.
Group C is stacked with Luis Scott-Vargas, Reid Duke, Paulo-Vitor Damo da Rosa, Seth Manfield, Shota Yasooka, and Gabriel Nasiff. Popular Magic Arena streamer Merchant is also in this bracket.
Group D has three of the best Brazilian Magic pro players as well as Portugal's Marcio Carvalho. We'll also be seeing Magic Pro League member Piotr Glogowski go against Magic Arena Qualifier Teruya Kakumae on Round 1, and streamer Kenji "NumotTheNummy" Egashira might face one of them on Round 2 if he manages to survive his match against "Adver".
On Sunday, the Top 4 will be competing for the $250,000 top prize.
