While the Magic: The Gathering community is still getting ready for the official previews of Kaldheim this month, fans are already hyped for the Spring 2021 set, Strixhaven: School of Mages, an expansion set in the elite university of Magic's multiverse, featuring five colleges battling it out with their own takes on magic. Now Magic head designer Mark Rosewater has revealed that he is excited for Strixhaven.
When a fan asked what excites him the most next year, Rosewater responded on his Blogatog: "The set that I'm most excited about personally is Strixhaven," Rosewater said. "It's the set I lead that had me stretching my vision design muscles the most."
Wizards of the Coast hasn't revealed much about Strixhaven: School of Mages other than the owl set symbol and how the lore will be set in the elite university. Many are already associating the set to J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series because of its school setting and owl symbol. Hearing Rosewater express his excitement for Strixhaven makes me more excited for the set. Strixhaven probably features a lot of innovative mechanics just like last year's Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths.
