Magic: The Gathering Fetch Lands Will Get Reprinted 'Somewhere Along The Line'

A Magic: The Gathering fan pledged to donate $100 to Extra Life charity if Senior Magic Designer Gavin Verhey answered his question about the possibility of repriting Fetch Lands, lands that can be sacrificed to search their controller's library for a land of a specific basic land type.

Verhey has reponded on Reddit, acknowledging that they are staples of Commander, Modern, and other Constructed Eternal formats, while assuring that the Fetch Lands will eventually be reprinted in a future Magic product.

"Like everything we do, things take time to create. A long time - our sets and products are built on the scale of years," Verhey explained. "And that means it can take a while for things to show up. They do eventually. There was a time when the exact same thing happened for allied fetchlands. We reprinted those. It happened for Damnation. We reprinted that. It happened for Doubling Season."

"Absolutely. I can pretty much guarantee you that they will show up somewhere along the line," he added. "We know players need them, we aren't bound by the reserved list, and frankly, we'd be fools to not reprint them. And, after we reprint them, I am sure soon enough people will hop on the train of another card or cycle or land we haven't reprinted in a while the same exact way that has happened every other time... And the process begins anew. "

Although WotC is aware that the Fetch Lands need to be reprinted in an MTG product eventually, but Verhey said that he still can't say when or which product.
