Magic: The Gathering Breaks Its PAX West Tradition

Magic: The Gathering's fall 2019 expansion Throne of Eldraine is scheduled to release on October 4 but don't expect special panels at PAX West to reveal previews because according schedule for 2019 shows, MTG isn't set to have any at the convention.

Magic: The Gathering usually has a substantial presence at PAX West events but the 2019 PAX West schedule reveals that Wizards of the Coast is breaking the tradition this year. The convention seemed like the ideal event to reveal more details about Throne of Eldraine, Brawl coming to Arena, and the new Brawl decks, but the only MTG events PAX West will have this year are tabletop tournaments on September 1 from 2pm to 8pm CT and Sept. 2 from 2pm to 4pm CT.

Wizards of the Coast revealed some Throne of Eldraine previews at San Diego Comic-Con, and Magic head designer Mark Rosewater has been sharing a few details about the upcoming expansion in recent weeks. Yesterday, he might have revealed the name of the Gingerbread creature featured in one of the Throne of Eldraine artworks but Wizards of the Coast hasn't confirmed yet.

Throne of Eldraine, the 82nd Magic expansion, is set to release on October 4. Prerelease events will take place on September 27 to 29. PAX West will take place on August 30 to September 2.
