Magic: The Gathering Artist Thomas Gianni Passes Away


Thomas Gianni, artist of twenty-eight Magic: The Gathering artworks, has passed away, according to his fellow Chicago artist friend Jim Nelson.

"I learned today that Tom Gianni, a gifted artist and truly kind man, has passed away," Nelson confirmed on Facebook. "Each time I had the chance to work or chat with him, it was a pleasure.R.I.P., Tom."

Although Nelson didn't reveal the cause of Gianni's death, he did confirm that it's not COVID-19. "He's been fighting something else for some time now," Nelson said in response to a comment.

Over the years, Gianni has illustrated fantastic MTG artworks like "Frenetic Efreet", "Reverse Damage", "Neverending Torment", and "Tower of Magistrate. You can check out the cards he illustrated below:
