Today, the first look at the gameplay for the upcoming Magic: The Gathering MMO Magic: Legends was released, and many fans are saying that it looks similar to Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo III. In the latest issue of Game Informer, more details for the game developed by Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios were revealed, giving fans an idea how the battle system works.
The five-page article reveals the how the game will feature card-based gameplay and deck design. There is a 12-card "deck" with 4 abilities available at a time, and Mana generates over time and is colored. Here are the details that a Redditor pointed out:
> Dominaria, Benalia, and Shiv are shown.
> Abilities are not 1-1 with cards, but are still recognizable
> Classes based on colors, master a class to unlock abilities you can cross-class
> There is a lot of work being done to ensure not every color turns into > Diablo Necromancer, so noncreature spells only will be a viable playstyle
> ARPG with instanced missions, like Destiny/Diablo, as well as open world areas/planes
> A "Director" like L4D
> Not procedurally generated maps
> F2P with some sort of "trading" mechanic, details unknown
