Mads Mikkelsen is probably one of the more interesting actors in Hollywood today, and Netflix has just dropped a new trailer for the Mikkelsen-centric movie, Polar.
Here's the official synopsis:
The world's top assassin, Duncan Vizla, aka The Black Kaiser (Mads Mikkelsen), is settling into retirement when his former employer marks him as a liability to the firm. Against his will, he finds himself back in the game going head to head with an army of younger, faster, ruthless killers who will stop at nothing to have him silenced.
Interestingly enough, the film is based on a graphic novel called Polar: Came from the Cold by Victor Santos. That kind of explains some of the more otherworldly elements in the trailer like the crazy looking characters as well as Mikkelsen's eyepatch look.
Besides Mikkelsen, the movie also has the involvement of Vanessa Hudgens. Matt Lucas also looks to be playing the main villain, and people will also recognize Katheryn Winnick who plays Lagertha on Vikings.
It also hasn't been mentioned on the official cast list, but I'm dead sure one of the actors in this film is Johnny Knoxville from Jackass. Look at the still from 0:38.
I have to hand it to Mikkelsen, he does really great work in whatever kind of field he goes into. He's proven himself to do great drama with shows like Hannibal, and now he's pulling a Liam Neeson and is going to be a badass assassin for Netflix. I kind of wish they gave him more to do as Galen Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Polar hits Netflix on Jan. 25.
