Mads Mikkelsen: Hannibal is Still Looking for a New Home

A lot of people weren't sure about a Hannibal series when it was first announced, but Bryan Fuller absolutely delivered with three seasons of his gory drama thriller. There have been rumblings that the showrunners are trying to get the fourth season off the ground and star Mads Mikkelsen gives us a slight update on the status.

Talking to Bloody Disgusting, Mikkelsen explains:

"I think there's always new hope. I haven't heard anything specific. I know [show creator] Bryan [Fuller] is still working on some ideas where we can find a new home for this. I also have a strong feeling that everybody who was involved in it would gladly pick up the glove again if that happens".

The first three seasons of the show had covered events in Red Dragon and Hannibal, and everyone speculates that the fourth season would be centered on Silence of the Lambs. In that story, Hannibal would be behind bars, but instead of tormenting Will Graham, he would be interacting with one Clarice Starling who needs his help profiling serial killer Buffalo Bill.

The series has admittedly taken some liberties with the original source material, but it's still very true to characters and is interesting to watch. With Silence of the Lambs being regarded as the best movie in the trilogy, I'm interested to see how the series will be adapting it—should they ever get the chance.

No release date has been set for Hannibal 4.
