M. Night Shyamalan Admits Meeting with Marvel and DC for Comic Book Movies

M. Night Shyamalan is usually associated with horror films and supernatural thrillers. But what are the chances that he could actually work on a major comic book movie? Shyamalan has just admitted that he has already met with Marvel and DC on possibly helming a superhero film.

Shyamalan recently spoke to ComicBook.com where he pointed out that he has had discussions with the studios about possibly doing a comic book movie.

"I've had many conversations over the years about many of the superheroes with many of the studios that own them, and how would wanna approach it," Shyamalan said. "And it's one of those things that I think this my style, if there was ever a situation I mean, I said, 'I did it.'"

Although Shyamalan hasn't worked on a Marvel or DC film just yet, that doesn't mean he hasn't presented his own superheroes to the world. This is what he has in Unbreakable, which led to the sequel Split and a third film Glass. The Signs director then stated that he made his own superhero movie in his own way.

"I made my comic book movie the way I wanted to make my comic book movie, but the minimalism, the insinuating, the not using CGI all of that stuff is a very different language," Shyamalan said. With that in mind, he isn't particularly keen to work on a major franchise just yet.

"So, whenever we've had those conversations in the past about XYZ person, it's your character or franchise. I get so nervous about like, 'Hey, this is not what you would want me to do make it very quiet and tiny and introspective,'" Shyamalan said.

For now, it seems unlikely we'll be seeing Shyamalan joining a comic book franchise. Nevertheless, he is set to continue working on projects that thrill and chill his fans.

Shyamalan's Servant Season 2 will premiere on Apple TV+ on January 12, 2021.
