Lycoris Recoil: What's It All About?
Chisato and Takina are young girls working at Cafe LycoReco in downtown Japan, along with Mizuki, Kurumi, and their manager, Mika. But beneath this all-innocent facade is an action-packed lifestyle for all of them.
Everyone except Kurumi are undercover agents working for a secret organization called DA (Direct Attack). Kurumi is a master hacker who has had to fake her death and now helps the Cafe LycoReco staff in exchange for her safety (and some games!).
Chisato and Takina are only two of the many "Lycoris," young girls trained to be assassins to keep all of Japan in a constant state of peace. It doesn't matter whether the girls go on the most mundane or the least safe missions, they do them all diligently.
Episode 5 started out on a pretty light note: a Tokyo tour on the river taxi to fulfill a dying man's wish.
But it didn't take long for the episode to turn into a real shocker for a lot of fans, even when ample clues about the show's possible main conflict were already introduced in the preceding episodes.
Chisato was casually revealed to have an artificial heart, answering the question about how exactly Alan Institute helped her as a child.
When Yoshi indirectly mentioned unleashing Chisato's killing genius to the world in episode 4, fans weren't expecting he'd try getting her to take someone's life immediately in the next episode.
Fans are still a bit lost about the green-haired, violent new male character's role in the series, although they are starting to think he could be the anime's main antagonist.
For now, without anyone knowing what could happen next, the best we could do is hope we get more answers (or more clues, at the very least) in episode 6!

Episode 6 of Lycoris Recoil will be released in the evening of August 6th, 2022 JST. That would be earlier on the the same date in the US, Canada, and Europe.
