Andrew Lund (played by Thorsteinn Bachmann) is one of the Tsalal scientists that were found in the "corpsicle." In the second episode, an Ennis cop accidentally snaps off his arm, which leads him to scream.

Considering the state that Lund was found in True Detective: Night Country, it's actually a miracle that he is still alive. He was immediately brought to the hospital for treatment.

In the third episode of the show, Lund is in a terrible state. Aside from missing most of his limbs, he's also convulsing. This led viewers to wonder how he survived given the condition he was in.

Because of this, avid fans found their way on Reddit and exchanged ideas. Since there was no scientific way how it could have been possible, some Reddit users believe the simplest explanation was that he was possessed.

So, yeah, that's the only possible explanation for why Lund is still alive.

Chief Liz Danvers (played by Jodie Foster) asks Lund what happened to him and the other researchers. As soon as she asks this, Lund stops howling in pain and says "She woke up."

He continues to say that "she" came for them in the dark. However, he doesn't reveal the identity of this mysterious being. But going back to the first episode, it's something that Navarro and Danvers also heard from Raymond Clark (played by Owen McDonnell).

This seemed to hint that Annie could be back from being dead and seeking revenge on those who hurt her. As to how this is possible, it could have something to do with the research the Tsalal scientists were doing.

In addition to this, when Danvers leaves Navarro in the room with Lund, the scientist suddenly stops being in pain, sits up, and tells her that her mother is waiting for her.

Considering Lund knew nothing about Navarro's personal life, it makes you wonder why he was able to deliver a personal message. Was Lund possessed in True Detective: Night Country?

While he may not be possessed, it's possible that Lund was already on the brink of his death.

In an earlier scene, Rose Aguineau (played by Fiona Shaw) says that the fabric separating the dead from the living appears to be breaking in Ennis.

With this hint earlier in the show, it's possible that Navarro's mom was able to slip a message via Lund. But it could also be a coincidence and it was simply a message for Navarro to find peace with her mom's death when she solves Annie's case.

We'll have to wait until more episodes come out for an explanation behind these.
