Luke Cage Star Describes The Defenders As A “Summer Popcorn Thing”

It looks like Marvel fans can expect a lot of light moments in the highly anticipated Marvel Netflix crossover series, The Defenders. While most of the different Marvel Netflix solo superhero series like Jessica Jones and Daredevil have a heavy atmosphere to it, it seems like things are going lighten up when the four different Netflix heroes gather together in The Defenders.

Speaking at a panel during the Denver Comic Con (via Latino Review), Luke Cage star Mike Colter tells fans that The Defenders is going to be a "fun and funny summer popcorn thing." The Marvel Television actor described the series as a "Summer mash-up of all four of us," one that has a "certain lightness" to it, and one that's fun and funny."

With the events of The Defenders take place over the course of forty-eight hours, it makes perfect sense that Marvel would want to keep things light between Colter's Luke Cage, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, and Finn Jone's Danny Rand. Besides, Marvel TV's had enough drama – it's time to add a little levity and witty banter.

The Defenders premieres on Netflix on August 18, 2017.
