There's no denying that Gina Carano received her big Hollywood break thanks to her involvement in The Mandalorian but in an unfortunate twist of fate, the former mixed martial arts fighter saw her entire career come crumbling down right before her very eyes as Lucasfilm officially terminated her contract.
Apparently, original plans called for Carano to have her own Star Wars spinoff series which would've revolved around Cara Dune's past as a shock trooper in Alderaan, something that was teased in The Mandalorian Season 2. Unfortunately, the project has been scrapped and as it turns out, Lucasfilm has been looking to fire Gina for quite some time now.
An unidentified source told The Hollywood Reporter that the production company had plans of removing Gina from the series as early as November. The source claims: "[Disney] have been looking for a reason to fire her for two months, and today was the final straw."
Fans have also been speculating that Carano would be part of the upcoming StarWars show Rangers of the New Republic announced during Disney's 2020 Investor Day which would've made a lot of sense considering Cara Dune eventually became a marshal for the New Republic.
Now, following this shocking new development, I think it's back to the drawing board for Lucasfilm although it's safe to assume that they've already been coming up with a backup plan since last year in case the situation goes south. As for Gina, things aren't looking pretty promising for her right now, and hopefully, she uses this time to reflect on the controversial things she said.
Meanwhile, Rangers of the New Republic is currently under development.
