After Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker concluded the 40-year-long run of the Skywalker Saga. fans are curious to see what's next for the iconic franchise. While there are already a few series lined up for Disney+, there are 3 movies set to be released, and now, it looks like one of these will potentially have a female director.

Appearing at the BAFTA Awards, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealed this to BBC News but is yet to confirm which of the three Star Wars movies will have a female director. She also mentioned directors Deborah Chow and Bryce Hollas Howard for their work on Star Wars: The Mandalorian, which turned out to be some of the fans' favorite episodes.

It is also important to note that it isn't clear whether the female director would helm any of the slated movies or would work on another one besides those three. That being said, Star Wars fans would surely have a couple of candidates on who they think would be a good fit for the said film.

Kennedy previously mentioned that the studio has been "spending so much time" in talking about the future of the franchise. Now that the Skywalker Saga has been concluded, it's now time to "start thinking about how to segue into something new and different." The future of the franchise is certainly looking promising so far.

Again, there are no confirmed directors as of late but the dates for the upcoming Star Wars movies are set for release on 2022, 2024, and 2026.
